SPF is Your BFF | Chicago Facial Aesthetics

Often, people think they only need sunscreen if they’re going to the beach or will be in the sun for a long time. Some people know they should wear sunscreen every day, but they don’t. Most people only carry sunscreen during the summer months, but it’s essential to wear sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days. If you don’t wear sunscreen every day, you may be putting your skin at risk.

Sun damage and skin cancer are caused by ultraviolet rays, which are always present. As ultraviolet rays are not blocked by clouds, even if the sun isn’t visible, you are still exposed to them. By wearing sunscreen, you reduce your chances of getting a sunburn. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30+ to ensure the best protection from the sun. Broad-spectrum sunscreens protect you from UVA and UVB rays. It is important to apply sunscreen to the entire body, not just your face.

Overexposure to the sun can cause wrinkles and aging. You will appear older than you are if you have been exposed to the sun for many years. According to the Skin Care Foundation, sun exposure accounts for 90% of aging. You can avoid visible aging by wearing sunscreen every day. Any skin type can benefit from sunscreen.

If you have a darker complexion, your melanin may offer some protection from sunburns, but you still need to protect yourself from those harmful ultraviolet rays. Because of sun exposure, people with fair skin are more likely to develop skin cancer. However, people with darker skin are at a higher risk of more serious types of skin cancer. For this reason, sun protection should be used daily, no matter what your skin tone is.

When the redness fades, you might think the sunburn is no longer harmful, but that’s not true. Ultraviolet rays penetrate deep into the skin, where they can damage or even kill cells. A sunburn is the skin’s reaction to ultraviolet radiation. Unlike sunlight or heat, UV radiation cannot be seen or felt. A sunburn is caused by radiation. As a result of sunburn, you will not only get wrinkles but also be at risk for skin cancer. Skin cancers, such as melanoma, are among the most dangerous.

Those cells that produce melanin are responsible for melanomas. Melanoma can develop anywhere in the body. Most often, it develops on the back, arms, legs, and face, areas that have been exposed to the sun. Melanoma can also develop in areas that don’t receive much sun, such as the soles of your feet, palms of your hands, and fingernail beds. Hidden melanomas are more common in people with darker skin, which is why you should wear sunscreen every day regardless of your skin tone.

In addition to wearing sunscreen every day, here are some other ways you can prevent skin cancer and aging:

  • Wear protective clothing as well as sunscreen. Cover your arms and legs as much as possible. Wear a hat and sunglasses.
  • Don’t expose yourself to the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The sun’s rays are strongest between these hours. Sunburns can be prevented by avoiding the sun during its strongest rays.
  • Tanning beds should be avoided. They increase the risk of skin cancer.
  • Get to know your skin so that you notice changes. Keep an eye out for new skin growths in existing moles, freckles, bumps, and birthmarks.

You should now be convinced to wear sunscreen all year long. You should always protect yourself from harmful ultraviolet rays. In the long run, worrying about your exposure to the sun every day will be worth it. If you have concerns about sun exposure, we are here for you. Tired of Pretending Your Acne Scars are Freckles? We Can Help! | Chicago Facial Aesthetics

If you have ever experienced acne, you might be left with some frustrating acne scars. With laser acne scar removal, our facial aesthetics doctor in Chicago can help blast the scars away. It is one of the most powerful and effective ways to get smooth, clear skin.

Our highly effective laser system can help you get rid of acne scars from your teenage years. This non-surgical procedure can remove 50 to 80% of scar tissue in just one hour. Patients can usually return to their daily activities immediately after the procedure.

Those who have struggled with scarring for years can now renew their appearance and achieve higher levels of self-confidence with a healthier look. The following are some common questions about acne scars and laser scar removal:

How does acne scarring occur?

Severe acne breakouts can cause serious skin damage. The protein collagen, which makes up the structure and shape of your skin, helps your body repair itself. During our youth, collagen keeps our skin wrinkle-free. There are times when the collagen in your body can completely heal the affected area without affecting your skin’s color or texture. But in the case of acne scars, the healing process was incomplete. Therefore, the scars on your face remain visible.

Acne breakouts can sometimes cause scabs. Eventually, the scabs will fall off, revealing new skin underneath. It may be the same color as the skin around it, or it may be different. If it is different, you will have a scar. Fortunately, laser acne scar treatment helps your body finish the healing process it began.

What are the different types of acne scars?

Acne scars are not all the same. They vary greatly in shape and appearance. Here are some types of scars you might notice after a particularly tough acne battle:

  • Boxcar Scars Your skin can be affected by these scars at varying levels of depth. These scars have a wide, sharp edge and appear as U-shaped marks.
  • Ice Pick Scars Often, these scars are very deep. Occasionally, they can resemble chicken pox scars because they create small, round perforations in the skin.
  • Rolling Scars This type of scar causes wide indentations in the skin. In general, the marks it leaves on your skin are round and have a “rolling” appearance.

What are the benefits of laser acne scar removal?

  • Removing damaged tissue In this procedure, a specialist uses a laser wand to remove acne scars from the skin’s surface. Light from the wand removes the damaged layers of your skin. After your skin has grown back, the new cells will show less evidence of the acne that was present. As a result, both the color and texture of your scars will be improved.
  • Using the Blood Vessels in Your Skin By reaching deep into your skin’s blood vessels, laser acne removal technology can be used to reduce scar discoloration. It minimizes the contrast between your scarred area and the rest of your face.
  • Stimulation of Collagen Production The laser can stimulate collagen production when it penetrates deeply into your skin. This will allow your body to heal your skin on its own.

How Safe Is The Treatment?

Laser treatments are a non-invasive way to improve acne scars. They involve equipment specifically designed for cosmetic purposes and are FDA approved. With lasers, the deeply scarred areas of your skin can be treated without affecting the surrounding tissues.

How Long Will It Take for Me to Recover After This Treatment?

There is no need to plan a lot of downtime after this procedure. Following treatment, most people can return to work or school the next day. After treatment, your skin usually regenerates within three to ten days. During this period, you may see significant initial improvements followed by gradual improvements.

Following your laser acne scar removal procedure, there are some measures you can take to help your skin adjust more quickly. For example, you should avoid sun exposure and refrain from wearing makeup for a couple of days. Skincare recommendations also include washing your face daily and keeping the treated area moisturized.

Is this treatment suitable for everyone?

All types and tones of skin can benefit from Laser Acne Scar Removal. You may find this treatment particularly helpful if you have trouble treating breakouts. If you spent a long time recovering from acne, your scarring may be more extensive. In this case, laser treatment is an excellent option for minimizing the appearance of your scars.

Dealing with acne is unpleasant, and chances are that you don’t cherish those memories. Laser technology can help you get rid of acne scars, which are an unpleasant reminder of a condition you have had in the past. Finally, you can get the clear, even skin tone you’ve always wanted. Facial Cosmetic Surgery or Maxillofacial Surgery? | Facial Aesthetics in Chicago IL

When most people think of cosmetic surgery, they think of a traditional facelift, but maxillofacial surgery covers a wide range of procedures, from brow sculpting to rhinoplasty to laser resurfacing.

Several cosmetic procedures are available for the correction of specific conditions in cosmetic maxillofacial surgery. Due to technological advancements in medical devices and biomaterials, many cosmetic maxillofacial procedures can be performed in the office of a facial cosmetic specialist under local anesthesia. Some procedures may require an outpatient facility or a hospital for same-day surgery.

Facelift Cosmetic Surgery

Rhytidectomy, or facelift, is a surgical procedure used to address the visible signs of aging in the face and neck. Cosmetic surgery facelifts include the traditional facelift, the limited-incision facelift, and the neck lift.

  • Traditional Facelift In a traditional facelift, fat can be sculpted or redistributed around the face, neck, and jowls. It involves repositioning the underlying tissue and lifting the deeper layers of the face and muscles. The skin is then redraped over the contours, and any excess skin is trimmed away.
  • Limited-incision facelifts Often referred to as “mini-lifts,” these full-facelift alternatives are performed on patients who have less skin relaxed. The effects are more subtle and less rejuvenating.
  • Necklift Often, a neck lift is performed at the same time as a facelift, although it can also be performed separately. With neck lifts, loose neck skin, sagging jowls, and excess fat under the chin are addressed.

Botox

As a brand name, Botox refers to a form of botulinum toxin type A that is used for cosmetic purposes. When injected into the skin of the face, it temporarily reduces or eliminates fine lines and wrinkles. Typically, forehead creases, frown lines, and crow’s feet are treated with botulinum toxin type A. The procedure can also be used to treat thick jaw muscles, thick bands in the neck, gummy smiles, and lip lines.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to add volume, smooth lines, and enhance facial contours. During aging, people tend to lose subcutaneous fat (fat underneath the skin), which makes the skin appear loose or saggy and causes wrinkles. Additionally, as we age, our facial skin stretches a bit, leading to a loss of youthful volume and firmness. Genetics, smoking, and other lifestyle choices can also influence how quickly your skin ages.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is also referred to as laser vaporization, lasabrasion, or a laser peel. Laser resurfacing uses short, pulsating, concentrated beams of light to target problem areas on the skin. One layer at a time, the laser burns away damaged skin.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes the nose to improve its appearance or function. Surgery is sometimes performed to reduce the size or change the shape of the nose. It can also be used to correct breathing problems caused by defects.

Blepharoplasty

An eyelift procedure called blepharoplasty removes excess fat and tissue from your eyelids and/or beneath your eyes. The most common reason for this procedure is under-eye bags that create a perpetually tired appearance. Additionally, it helps treat sagging eyelids that can obstruct vision.

Brow lift

In a brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, the eyebrows are raised higher on the face in a more youthful position. As a result, you will be able to reduce wrinkles on your forehead and between your eyes. Furthermore, a brow lift improves frown lines between the eyebrows and raises sagging brows that create a hooded look above the eyes.

We offer a variety of services in our facial cosmetics office. For information on any of the procedures we discussed or if you are interested in other procedures we offer, please contact our facial aesthetics office in Chicago, IL to schedule a consultation.

Is Genioplasty the Answer for Your Chin? | Facial Aesthetics in 60619

Woman looking at her face in the mirror Timeless Beauty

Are you ever self-conscious about the appearance of your chin or your profile in photographs? If this is the case, your chin may be too small or too large compared to your nose.

It’s likely you’ve heard about genioplasty if you’re thinking about changing your appearance. There are many people who get this surgery to change the shape of their faces, but what is it?

Genioplasty is a surgery to alter the chin. In addition to being used to aid breathing in the upper airway, it can also be used for cosmetic purposes. The procedure involves operating on bones, and it takes around 6–8 weeks to heal. You should plan to eat soft foods for some time afterward.

Types of genioplasty surgery

Understanding what each type of genioplasty involves is essential before undergoing any surgery. They are as follows:

Sliding genioplasty: A surgeon will use a saw to remove parts of the jaw. As a result, they can move it into place and then create different looks. This procedure uses the patient’s own bone.

A Chin Implant: A chin implant is a form of genioplasty that uses an implant instead of the patient’s own bone to create the desired look.

Depending on the patient’s needs, a facial cosmetics specialist will determine if sliding genioplasty or chin surgery is the right procedure for them. Patients who desire a fuller look in their jaws will most likely undergo chin implants. A sliding genioplasty can only be performed if the patient is removing parts of the bone to create a smaller chin.

Genioplasty Surgery

Having genioplasty surgery is not an easy procedure, and the recovery time can take up to eight weeks. You should follow whatever instructions your surgeon gives you for the best results. The following are some other things you should know about genioplasty recovery:

  • Surgery is invasive on the face, which means swelling and bruising are likely to occur. When it comes to such a hefty procedure, it is perfectly normal. Cold compresses help reduce swelling. A lot of water helps with healing.
  • After two weeks, you can return to work. You will need to take extra precautions to ensure there are no facial injuries. You can gradually resume regular activity after the third week.
  • Sports should be avoided until fully healed. The bone is soft after surgery, so any sort of injury could ruin it.
  • For the next few days, avoid using a toothbrush. During this time, a glycerin swab will help keep things clean.
  • Recovery requires your chin to have little impact, so you always need to consider whether any activity will move it.
  • Post-operative pain can be managed with prescribed medication. Additional painkillers should only be used with the surgeon’s approval.
  • After one day, you can take a shower. You need to wash your face gently, as rubbing too hard could move your chin. Use caution when washing your face.

It should be relatively straightforward to recover if you follow these steps, but always remember to seek the advice of your facial cosmetics specialist.

Consider genioplasty surgery if you wish to improve the appearance of your chin. Contact our Facial Aesthetics in Chicago, IL office to schedule an appointment. We are happy to assist you.

The Nose Knows Rhinoplasty Surgery | Cornell McCullom, DDS

Doctor bandaging woman's nose Facial Aesthetics Chicago

There are numerous reasons why someone might consider getting a nose job, not the least of which is that it is often necessary simply as a cosmetic procedure. Even if your peers do not consider it an issue, you may feel that your nose is too big, too small, misshapen, or possesses other defects that make you feel uncomfortable and depressed and have a negative effect on your mental health.

Of course, it is also possible that you have breathing difficulties that require surgery so that you can live a normal life alongside everyone else. Regardless of your reasons for considering a nose job, there are certain things you should keep in mind before committing.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty refers to a “nose job” in the medical world. Our highly qualified and experienced Facial Aesthetics in Chicago has performed many of these procedures and is fully qualified to perform the surgery you desire. In the case of nose reduction, we remove some cartilage or bone from the nose. In the case of nose augmentation, we make the nose bigger. To achieve the latter, bone could be harvested from the hips, skull, or elbow, along with cartilage from the ears, and used to construct the nose.

By breaking the nose bone and rearranging the cartilage, it is possible to alter your nose’s angle with your mouth or the shape of your nose. The skin covering the nose should simply expand or contract to fit the new shape.

The procedure can be performed by either cutting across the skin between the nostrils or by making small incisions inside the nostrils. Known as “closed rhinoplasty,” this type of operation does not leave scars and causes less swelling, but is not always possible. The former is called “open rhinoplasty,” but our Chicago Facial Aesthetics specialist recommends closed rhinoplasty whenever possible.

Rhinoplasty Recovery

As part of the recovery process, we may place a splint around or inside your nose. Using bandages or splints will protect the structures and cartilage of your nose as it heals. During the first week after surgery, you may experience swelling. As soon as this subsides, you will be able to see the final results of your rhinoplasty.

Your nose may gradually change throughout the first year. This occurs as the nose refines itself into its permanent shape. Most people return to work after 1-2 weeks, although strenuous activity should be avoided for about a month following surgery.

If the surgery is performed by a trained expert at our Facial Aesthetics in 60619 office, you can expect lasting and aesthetically pleasing results. We carefully perform every procedure to ensure optimum results, minimal scarring, and to answer any questions you may have along the way. Contact us today to schedule a consultation appointment.

Facial Cosmetic Procedures in Your 20s? The Growing Trend | 60619 Facial Aesthetics

Facial Aesthetics in Chicago, IL

Since the turn of the century, non-surgical cosmetic procedures have become increasingly popular among young people, particularly plump lips and airbrushed complexions.

It is easy to trace the origin of this cultural trend by looking at the Instagram feed of the average young person in the US, where influencers, reality stars, and celebrities bombard users with picture-perfect imagery. According to a recent survey of 1,212 people about their perceptions of aesthetic surgery and “tweaks,” 88% of respondents either “agreed” or “strongly agreed” that social media is largely to blame for cosmetic surgery’s popularity.

Many have discussed why young people feel the pressure to alter their appearances, but few have discussed the long-term health effects of such procedures. Although dermal fillers and other non-cosmetic treatments have temporary effects, could the long-term use of such products on younger complexions cause physical and psychological harm to the users?

Trends

Years ago, it was widely believed that going under the knife or needle was mostly reserved for the elderly who wanted to stay youthful well into their 50s and 60s. Despite this notion, young people are turning to procedures not so they can change their appearance, but rather so they can keep up with the “Instagram look” that is heavily promoted on social media.

It is becoming more and more common to see plump lips and well-defined cheekbones in selfies, and this airbrushed look continues to shape how ordinary people want to look. As a result, the term “filler fatigue” is used in the beauty community to describe the side effects of excessive filler use. Over time, the filler stretches and weighs down the skin, requiring more filler with each trip to the clinic, ultimately leading to further stretching issues.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are different from Botox, which freezes muscles to reduce wrinkles. Dermal fillers are injectable implants that smooth the complexion and reduce wrinkles. They are injected under the skin.

Fillers are classified into four categories:

  • Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced by your body and is present in your skin and cartilage. Fillers made from hyaluronic acid typically last six to twelve months.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite: The mineral calcium hydroxylapatite is found in our bones. It lasts approximately 18 months.
  • Poly-L-lactic acid is a biodegradable synthetic material that is also used to make dissolvable stitches. It can last up to two years.
  • Polymethylmethacrylate beads are the only filler that can’t be absorbed by the body, so the results are permanent. It’s only used around the mouth.

Dermal fillers can be an effective and safe option for people who prefer a temporary measure. Due to its reputation as a user-friendly option, the use of filler is perceived more as a throwaway beauty treatment than a risky medical procedure. Furthermore, many experts position fillers in the same way that they do Botox: as preventative medicine that stops the signs of aging in their tracks. Unlike Botox, which stops you from making expressions that create wrinkles, some fillers claim to help stimulate collagen production.

Issues for young people

The temporary nature of dermal fillers has resulted in little attention being paid to the long-term impacts such treatments can have on young complexions. However, undergoing non-surgical procedures at a young age can result in several longer-term problems. A young person who has undergone cosmetic procedures is sometimes described as “aging sideways,” which describes the fact that they appear to have undergone surgery, as well as the fact that it makes it harder to tell whether they’re young or old.

Fillers remain one of the most popular cosmetic procedures due to their accessibility, short recovery time, and instant results. Some people, however, have developed an addiction to the procedure because of its benefits.

The goal of our Facial Aesthetics in Chicago, IL office is to give you the results you desire while also keeping a close eye on any issues that might arise in the future. You can be confident that we will recommend procedures that will be safe and effective regardless of your age. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Chicago Facial Aesthetics office and schedule a consultation with our facial cosmetics specialist.

Turn Back the Hands of Time With Facial Cosmetics | Timeless Beauty

Chicago Facial Aesthetics

The hands of time can be unfair, causing you to look older than you are or are at heart. Fortunately, there are more resources than ever available to combat aging. With Facial Aesthetics Chicago, you can achieve a more youthful appearance and feel more confident.

Beautiful smiles radiate health and confidence, and since the mouth is one of the main focal points of the face, it’s no wonder the smile plays such an important role in how we perceive ourselves and how others perceive us. Why not consider other areas that you may not have expected that impact the aesthetics of your smile alongside having the teeth you’ve always wanted? Listed below are a few cosmetic procedures that Chicago Facial Aesthetics cosmetic specialists offer.

Botox and Facial Esthetics:

Botox is most commonly used to smooth out wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyes. Botox is a muscle relaxer that can relieve facial pain. Botox can also be used to smooth the wrinkles around the lips, which are commonly called “smokers’ wrinkles.” Smoking may not be the cause of these wrinkles, but rather strong contractions of the orbicularis oris muscles. Through Botox Therapy and Lip Augmentation, facial cosmetic specialists can correct a high lip line without the patient having to undergo surgery. They instead inject dermal fillers into the muscles surrounding the lips so that the lips can’t be raised as much. Although Botox for these kinds of procedures has the disadvantage of requiring 2-3 visits a year, it has the advantage of being able to correct the problem in one visit and being minimally invasive.

Rhinoplasty

Specialists in facial cosmetics can reshape the nose with a procedure called rhinoplasty. Those who are dissatisfied with the shape and size of their nose may be able to improve their appearance. One of the first cosmetic procedures developed was nasal reconstruction, which is still one of the most common procedures performed today. During rhinoplasty surgery, deformities of the nose are corrected by removing, rearranging, or reshaping bone and cartilage. Pain is minimal and controlled with medication after this procedure. Bruising occurs around the eyes and fades within a few days. Discoloration usually goes away in two weeks.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are beneficial for wrinkles, acne scars, and irregular pigmentation, such as freckles and age spots. This procedure is also effective in precancerous conditions like keratoses (thick, rough, reddish growths).

A chemical peel can be light, medium, or deep. Light peels remove superficial wrinkles, while medium and deep peels are used for more serious conditions. A small applicator is used to apply the chemical solution after thoroughly cleansing the face. Excess solution is removed, and the process is repeated on other areas of the face. Depending on the patient’s skin condition, the amount of improvement varies. Damaged skin can be significantly improved, which can produce dramatic results.

Skin Rejuvenation

Chemical peels are often used in conjunction with a skin rejuvenation program. In addition to the other procedures described, the program can also be undertaken separately. Following a consultation and establishing a treatment plan for the patient’s cosmetic needs, it is performed by the patient at home. We are dedicated to providing you with the newest and most effective skincare treatments.

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty can correct sagging eyelids, bags, or pouches beneath the eyes, as well as excess folds around the eyes. It is used to remove excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids and is often performed in conjunction with other surgeries such as facelifts, eyebrow lifts, and forehead lifts. A blepharoplasty can be performed under general anesthesia (while you are asleep) or under IV sedation. Both are very comfortable. Pre-medication is used before surgery to decrease swelling after the operation.

Endoscopic Browlift

An endoscopic brow lift provides a smoother, more youthful appearance by raising the eyebrows and reducing ridges and furrows on the forehead. The procedure can be combined with other surgeries.

There are several small incisions made on the top of the head near the hairline, but they are hidden from view. The forehead and eyebrows are elevated and stabilized with resorbable plastic screws. Through the use of an endoscope and specialized instruments, we can perform forehead lifting through small incisions in the scalp. As a result, the procedure is much less invasive.

At our Facial Aesthetics in Chicago cosmetics office, we offer a variety of skincare products and services. Our goal is to restore your youthful appearance and give you the confidence you deserve. Please contact Chicago, IL Facial Aesthetics today to schedule a consultation appointment.

In our practice, one of the most common concerns is premature aging. We offer a wide range of services to help you restore your youthful appearance, whether you have wrinkles, age spots, or sagging skin. Below are some of the services we provide.

  • Reduce wrinkles: Botox injections are known for their ability to reduce facial wrinkles. Various chemical signals from nerves, especially those causing muscles to contract, are blocked by these injections. Most commonly, these injections are used to relax the underlying muscles that cause wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes.
  • Volume restoration: Through volume restoration techniques, it is possible to restore fat loss that has occurred over the years in your face.
  • Restylane: Restylane is a dermal filler that contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps treat facial wrinkles. It can be used to create fuller lips as well as a more defined mouth and to contour your face to give it a fuller appearance.
  • Dermal fillers: Dermal fillers, also known as facial fillers, are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smoothness, soften lines, or enhance facial contours.

Learn how to rejuvenate your skin.

Throughout our lives, our skin tends to lose elasticity and volume. As a result, your cheeks may appear hollow, your lips will appear thinner, and your jawline will appear loose. Additionally, we provide a range of services to remove skin spoilers such as acne, moles, skin tags, keloids, and DPN.

DPN…Can it be Treated? | South Side Chicago Facial Aesthetics

chicago facial cosmetics

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra, or DPN, is a skin condition that appears as small bumps on the face, neck, and upper back. Between 30 and 35 percent of African Americans, as well as an unknown number of Asian Americans, are affected. Women are affected more often than men. It usually begins during adolescence, and the number and size of lesions increase with age. The spots of dermatosis papulosa nigra do not fade away.

DPN is completely harmless and doesn’t require treatment. If, however, the bumps become itchy or you don’t like their appearance, you may choose to have them removed by our facial cosmetics doctor in Chicago, IL.

Treatment options

  • Radiowave surgery is a minimally invasive procedure performed under topical and local anesthesia. The procedure causes little thermal damage. While some light brown areas may remain, they appear much better than the original DPN and may also eventually blend entirely with the patient’s skin tone.
  • Occasionally, DPN may be treated using a CO2 laser. It is also possible to remove DPNs and skin tags (depending on the number to be treated) with this laser in one session. The results are similar to those of a radio wave device.
  • A cauterization procedure involves burning the dark spots and destroying the tissue with an electric current. This procedure is performed with a small probe.
  • A curative technique involves scraping the papules with a tool. There is a risk associated with this procedure, as it may leave discolored patches on the skin. It is usually a more cost-effective procedure.
  • Cryotherapy is fast, inexpensive, and requires very little preparation depending on the depth of the lesion and the provider’s technique; the number of treatments and freeze-thaw cycles may also vary. In patients with skin of color, the primary concern is hypopigmentation, which results from damage to melanocytes in the underlying or surrounding healthy skin.
  • There are a few natural treatments that can be found on the internet. One method involves applying the juice of a garlic clove to the affected area and wrapping it with a bandage. Many believe garlic’s sulfurous compounds help strengthen skin cells and strengthen the fibers of the skin, but mainly through dietary sources. Another natural treatment involves applying vitamin C powder to affected areas before covering them with a bandage. Despite vitamin C’s ability to rejuvenate aging and photodamaged skin and promote healthy collagen growth, there is no evidence that it will remove DPN.

Once again, DPN does not require treatment. Generally, these growths are benign, but if it is not clear whether a particular lesion is dermatosis papulosa nigra, you should schedule an appointment at our facial cosmetics office in Chicago, ILs to ensure it isn’t serious or cancerous.

Common Botox Misconceptions | Facial Aesthetics in 60619

Facial Aesthetics 60619

Misconceptions About Botox

The ability of Botox to quickly and effectively remove wrinkles and frown lines has made it one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic treatments. As a result of its popularity, there are several Botox myths.

Botulinum toxin (Botox) is a neurotoxin that weakens muscles and affects nerves. The injections are often done for cosmetic or medical reasons. The toxin blocks nerve signals to muscles, which prevents them from contracting. While these effects are always temporary, they can last for several months.

Let’s examine some common myths about Botox.

Myth: Botox produces immediate results.

Results from Botox treatments don’t appear instantly. The treatment takes some time to fully work. It typically takes two to four days before the muscle weakens and the movement begins to slow after an injection, provided it is administered correctly by a facial cosmetic specialist in Chicago. You can expect maximum results from your treatment ten to fourteen days after it’s completed.

Myth: Botox lasts indefinitely.

Unlike other cosmetic treatments, Botox does not provide permanent results. Generally, the effects of Botox last between three and six months, and it can be used to temporarily smooth wrinkles, frown lines, and expression lines. Depending on several factors, the effects of Botox may last longer or shorter for you. Botox’s duration is influenced by how frequently you have it injected and where it’s administered.

Myth: Botox is only available to women.

For men who want to look younger, Botox injections are the most requested cosmetic procedure. It is sometimes called “Brotox,” which is simply a man-friendly nickname for Botox. The facial muscles of men are stronger, so they require a higher dosage of Botox to get the desired results, but many find it worthwhile and worth the expense.

Myth: Botox paralyzes the face.

It is a common misconception that is perpetuated by photos of individuals who have had improperly performed Botox injections. By using Botox, you can refresh your appearance without freezing your facial muscles. When properly administered, it gives you a very natural appearance.

Myth: It only works when wrinkles are already present.

Younger patients tend to use Botox more frequently as a preventative treatment before fine lines and wrinkles appear. It may be more challenging to achieve your goals if you wait until the signs of aging become visible. Additionally, Botox can be used in a preventative manner to help train muscles to focus on not making certain facial expressions, thereby lessening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by repeated movements.

We offer Botox treatments at our facial cosmetics office in Chicago, so contact us to schedule an appointment.
