How Does it Work?

Fat cells, like every cell in our bodies, contain stem cells, leading some to believe the fat graft has an anti-aging effect. There is no scientific evidence to back this up; however, in our experience, fat grafting can work well when combined with platelet-rich plasma, or PRP. This process uses a concentration of regenerative cells derived from one’s own blood plasma.
Recovery from fat transfer with or without PRP is minimal and can last up to a week. Cold compresses can alleviate any swelling that occurs.
Everybody’s skin is unique. Sometimes transferred fat can be absorbed, so it is common to inject more than needed. If, however, it does not break down, it may take on a lumpy appearance. A skilled provider can minimize this risk, but the process is simply not predictable. As with any filler, it is possible for the fat to spread to unintended areas.
